This week’s Adventure Friday didn’t really happen. Jon made us pancake waffles for breakfast, and then we set off to purchase supplies to make the kids’ Halloween costumes. Yes, you read that correctly. I’m not sure what exactly possessed us to make the costumes, given everything we have going on this month, but we did. Linnea is going to be a butterfly, and Jonas wanted to be a robot. Except that he now says he wants to be a fire truck and seems to get a little upset about the robot idea. But we’ve come too far to change now, so I’m just hoping that he’ll be impressed when the costume is finished. Anyway, we also bought some pillowcases and then stopped by the playground. Linnea suggested that we play “bad guys,” which involves chasing the others around and putting them in jail. Then we went home and made lunch, and then Jon went to work. Riveting, I know!
I can’t wait for this week to be over. Jon and I are headed to Philadelphia by ourselves for two nights next week! He’s attending a conference, so I have an evening and day to spend doing whatever I want. Well, except that I need to go shopping for a dress for my brother-in-law’s wedding later this month. Torture! The shopping, that is, not the wedding.
In other news, it’s tantrum central around here. I’m not sure if Jonas has been extra-cranky lately because he’s getting his 2-year molars, or if it’s just his age. But he’s been throwing full-out kicking on the floor and stomping his feet tantrums. Linnea wasn’t much for that particular kind of drama, so it’s a new experience for us. In some ways, I feel bad for him, but honestly? I think his tantrums are hilarious and often have to leave the room to laugh. Sometimes I like to videotape him on my phone and then play it back for him. I’m not sure whether he understands how ridiculous he looks, but at least it gets his attention. And I’m sure it will be great footage to torment him with when he’s older.
